Back in 2004, when I was a kid, almost everyone around me had a computer. I was probably one of the last to get mine. Back then, they were still pretty expensive. But my sister worked hard and managed to surprise me with one for my birthday. It was a Pentium III. She said it with so much pride, like I’d know what that meant. I didn’t. My only goal was to find a floppy disk or a CD with games on it and start playing with my new toy.
But she had thought of that too.
I still remember her pulling out two more gifts from that bag. FIFA 2004, with my idols Thierry Henry and Ronaldinho on the cover, and a compilation CD of 101 Macromedia Flash games. That was it. That moment sparked something in me. That’s where my love for computers and bigger technology began.
Fast forward to today, and that love is still there. Whether it’s hardware, software, or anything in between, I’m into it. But over the last few years, I started noticing something that I didn't really like. More and more people were getting into tech, not because they loved it, but because it paid well. And hey, I get it, everyone needs to make a living. But I couldn’t help but feel a little disconnected when I realised that for many, it was just a job. Just something to get through.
What surprised me most wasn’t that they didn’t love the work, it was that they weren’t even trying to enjoy it.
Now, I know not everyone is in love with what they do. And that’s fine. But I’ve always believed that you can find small ways to make any job more enjoyable, whether or not it’s your dream role. A good friend of mine thought me this back in 2009 when we were together on summer camp in Germany. Thank you Emir for this!
Music has this weird magic. It can shift your whole mood. It helps me stay focused when I need to concentrate, hyped when I need energy, and calm when everything feels a bit too much. I’ve been curating playlists for myself for years. Sure, one part was because of my dance lessons but over the years I tailored to different tasks, vibes, and times of day. Eventually, I thought: why not share them? I know many would be surprised by combination and choices of some songs in playlists but hey, where is the fun in it if we don't share things.
So, I created four playlists. Each one is made for a different mood or moment:
I made these for people like me and for people unlike me too. For anyone who believes that work doesn’t have to feel like a chore. For those who still find ways to bring joy into their day, no matter what they’re doing.
Because sometimes, a good playlist is all it takes to turn a long day into a good one.
I’ll keep updating them as I go, and who knows maybe one of your future favorites is already in there.
Here’s the links to all four playlists
Feel free to follow and share with anyone who might need a little extra rhythm in their routine.
